The Avon Justine iThemba Walkathon is held during breast cancer month in October every year and attracts thousands of participants. It is aimed at raising funds for breast cancer education and awareness in South Africa, as well as celebrating those who have survived the illness. This year, on the tenth anniversary of the walkathon, their goal is to reach 25 000 participants. The walkathon has been successful in reaching a large number of South Africans with the support of Woman & Home, and Kaya FM, as well as celebrities and breast cancer survivors who will take centre stage. The Avon Justine iThemba Walkathon is perfect for the whole family (including your four-legged friends!) It takes place on Sunday, 25 October 2015 (8 km – 8:00 am; 5km – 8:30 am)

Dogs must be registered to walk (and are restricted to the 5km walk), but their participation is completely free. There are refreshments available for both walkers and their dogs, but it is recommended that people bring extra food and water for their dogs. Each dog will also receive a medal upon completion of the 5km walk.
Participants can walk the 5km or 8km route, with the event ending off with live entertainment, celebrity appearances, food stalls, Avon and Justine stalls and loads more. There is also a kiddie’s corner to keep the little ones entertained.
