Chloe and Bella were absolutely ecstatic to be going on a walk of Johannesburg this morning! They were jumping about and running around the garden as soon as they saw their walker on the way to fetch them. They could not contain their excitement and were almost flying through the air to meet up with their friends, Penny, Zorin and Tawnee, and Ozzy and Roxy, and get going with the walk. The dogs of the neighbourhood were very vocal about these new pups walking about in their area. Chloe and Bella replied to these other dogs, but kept on with their walk. They were very well-behaved today, and seemed focused on just enjoying their walk. A few cars with school children drove past us, and they were very happy to see these lovely dogs walking around Johannesburg. The pair were not ready to go home when time was up, but we will be seeing them shortly for another eventful walk.
An Interesting Fact or Two…
- Many miniature Schnauzer owners love their dog(s) so much that they own many pieces of Schnauzer related merchandise, and there is a lot available. Garbage cans, calendars, shirts, hats, posters and books are just a few of the items you can purchase in some of the online stores.
- There have been many great Miniature Schnauzers since they came into the registry. One miniature Schnauzer who was a real pride to the breed was “Target”, a salt and pepper Schnauzer born in 1980. He was listed as the #1 Miniature Schnauzer in 1982 as well as becoming the first Best in Show winner. Not only was he a winner in the show ring, but at stud as well. He was only at stud for 4 1/2 years, but he fathered 78 AKC (American Kennel Club) Champions, a world record that was not to be beaten for 15 years. Females were sent to him from all over the world. He can still be found in the breeding lines of many Miniature Schnauzers.
- The beauty of the Schnauzer has also been displayed in the work of many famous artists such as Rembrandt and Durer, ensuring it will remain popular and well known for many years to come.
